Character notes

 Following the short film formula:

1st character :

  • Female, age 18, British

  • Dilemma over the male character – she loves him but has a complicated relationship with him which frequently results in falling out.

  • The character wants satisfaction and an escape. She is free spirited and feels tied down by him, hence the beach convo

  • The obstacle is her feelings for him and societal standards which stop her from saying certain things and behaving in certain ways

2nd character:

  • Male, aged 18, British

  • Personal beliefs oppose that of the female (THIS IS THE CAUSE OF CONFLICT BETWEEN THEM)

  • We need to see proof that they hold the different beliefs

Character profiles-

Lela/ alana

+ free spirited, quirky, emotional, loving   - flaky, on and off,

Luka:

+ loving, charming, fun, outgoing     - aggressive, stubborn, short-tempered

My characters quite strongly align with their gender sterotypes, which is on purpose. While both characters still have emotional depth and truth to them, the film is commenting on the sterotypes badly complimenting each other, but specifically focusing on the female sterotype. It suggests that while lela may be emotionally vulnerable and caring, she realises she should break away from the more agressive, dominant man as she ultimately feels oppressed by him, and instead needs to be free.
